Origin and provenance
Felipe and his brother Carlos Arcila are fourth-generation coffee growers in Quindío, Colombia. Inspired by Australian coffee culture, Felipe returned to Colombia, immersed himself in specialty coffee, and together with Carlos acquired Jardines del Edén to cultivate exotic coffee varieties. This coffee underwent a 24-hour dry aerobic fermentation, followed by 50 hours stored in GrainPro bags at a temperature below 22°C. The cherries were then dried on raised beds until reaching 11% moisture content. This unique variety, originating in Kenya in the 1930s, was introduced to other coffee-growing regions in Africa and Latin America. Rare in Colombia, it was planted at Jardines del Edén in 2019, where it adapted remarkably to Quindío’s climate and geography.
