Rwanda Karambi Baho is produced at the Karambi Washing Station, located in Nyamagabe district within Rwanda’s renowned Kizi Rift coffee-growing region.
The station is owned by Emmanuel Rusatira, founder of Baho Coffee. After more than fifteen years working in Rwanda’s coffee export sector, Emmanuel established Baho Coffee in 2016 with the vision of showcasing the country’s diverse coffee terroirs. Today the company operates twelve washing stations, partnering with hundreds of smallholder farmers while promoting quality, sustainability and full traceability. The name Baho means “to live” in Kinyarwanda, symbolising resilience, strength and hope.
Red Bourbon trees grow between 1,550 and 1,800 metres above sea level on fertile highland soils. Ripe cherries are hand-picked, sorted by ripeness and processed through a combined fermentation method that begins with anaerobic whole-cherry fermentation, followed by pulping, aerobic fermentation, washing and slow outdoor drying.
This carefully controlled process produces a remarkably clean and balanced cup with silky body, bright malic acidity and refined sweetness.
