Origin and provenance
This coffee comes from the Abaya area in the wider Yirgacheffe region, in southern Ethiopia. Yirgacheffe is world-renowned for producing some of the highest-quality Arabica coffees, thanks to its high elevation, cool climate and fertile volcanic soils. The farms are located between 1,700 and 2,200 masl, where smallholder growers cultivate heirloom varieties using traditional, mostly organic farming practices. Cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness and carefully dried in the sun on raised beds for about 10–14 days.
This natural process enhances the coffee’s fruity character, floral aromatics and overall sweetness, giving Abaya coffees their distinctive, vibrant profile.
