origin and provenance

An exceptional coffee produced by Ali Al-Razeeqi in the village of Hisn Shaqroof, in the Haraz region — one of the most iconic and historically significant coffee-producing areas in Yemen.

Grown at approximately 2250 meters above sea level on ancient mountain terraces, this coffee comes from an extreme environment where every step of production is carried out entirely by hand. Farms are very small and rely exclusively on rain-fed agriculture, with no artificial irrigation.

Coffee production in Yemen is among the most challenging in the world. Limited infrastructure, difficult internal transportation and very restricted export routes make each lot extremely rare. Yemen accounts for less than 0.1% of global coffee exports, positioning it among the rarest origins worldwide.

Harvesting takes place on steep high-altitude terrain, where farmers must physically climb to hand-pick the cherries. This level of effort and care directly translates into cup quality.

The UDAINI varietal belongs to one of the oldest and purest coffee genetic heritages. It is a traditional Yemeni landrace that has not been hybridized for centuries, preserving its original characteristics and delivering a unique and highly complex cup profile.

The process combines anaerobic fermentation with natural drying. Cherries ferment in unsealed containers, allowing ambient temperature to influence fermentation naturally. Once the desired level is reached, cherries are sun-dried and then transferred to shaded raised beds for slow and even drying.

This method enhances clarity, sweetness and results in a clean, well-balanced acidity.

In the cup, it stands out for its depth and complexity: fruity and floral notes are layered with chocolate and nutty undertones, creating an elegant, rare and highly distinctive profile.

A coffee that is not just a product, but the expression of a unique territory, extreme conditions and one of the oldest coffee traditions in the world.
